GRADE HORSE — NO REGISTRATION PAPERS
5-year-old Friesian x Quarter Horse x Percheron gelding standing 15.3hh. If you have been waiting for the horse that seemingly does not exist, meet Waylon. Waylon is that incredibly rare combination of SAFE, FANCY, ATHLETIC, FORGIVING and truly VERSATILE. English, Western, trails, jumping, dressage, cross-country, horse shows, hunter paces, beach rides — this gelding has a resume most horses twice his age don’t have, and he does it all with the same quiet, willing attitude. Waylon is the kind of horse that can accommodate a wide range of riders. He has enough quality and ability for an experienced rider to appreciate, while still being forgiving, sensible and confidence-inspiring for someone who simply wants a safe horse to enjoy. He doesn’t hold a grudge over mistakes or expect his rider to be perfect. He genuinely wants to please and take care of whoever is on his back. Ride him English and he is soft in the bridle, comfortable in all three gaits and capable of coming together into a beautiful frame. He has jumped up to 3’, gone cross-country schooling, attended horse shows and hunter paces, and is just as happy quietly packing around smaller starter fences. Throw a Western saddle on him and go enjoy him. He will ride around relaxed on a loose rein, neck rein, trail ride and work through obstacles without needing everything to be perfect. He isn’t a horse that has to stay in one program or be ridden one particular way to remain broke. Outside of the arena, Waylon is worth his weight in gold. He has been extensively trail ridden, gone to the beach, ridden through town, been ridden bareback and double, hauled to different environments and exposed to countless obstacles. He has even had a bull whip cracked off of him without batting an eye. New places don’t turn him into a different horse. Give him a job and he goes to work. What makes Waylon such a unicorn is his ability to adjust to what is being asked of him. Pick him up and ask him to work, or drop your hand and let him cruise. Jump a course one day, ride Western the next, then throw on a bareback pad and head down the trail. He doesn’t need to be drilled or kept in a rigid program to be enjoyable. He could continue in dressage, eventing, jumpers, foxhunting or hunter paces, make an incredible English/Western all-around horse, or simply be the safe, dependable family gelding everyone fights over when it’s time to ride. At only five years old, Waylon already has the brain, experience and versatility people spend years trying to put into one horse. He is kind, personable and uncomplicated to have around with no bad habits or vices. 100% sound. Safe enough to inspire confidence. Fancy enough to turn heads. Athletic enough to be competitive. Quiet enough to enjoy. English or Western, arena or trail — Waylon is simply the kind you don’t come across very often. He is the definition of a TRUE UNICORN.
